2016 Word for the Year: Connect
I have been deep in thought the past few days. It's hard to believe that we're already 18 days into the year 2016. Wow. Time flies.
I have taken a significant amount of time to ponder my word for 2016. No, I don't do resolutions, as that just leads to, "I didn't get that done and feel bad about that."
Instead, I choose a word. Or, a word chooses me. *grin*
My word last year was "run". Over and over again, I kept being in situations where the scripture "...let us run the race marked out before us with perseverance..." (Hebrews 12:1) I can't explain the depth of how it was etched on my heart, but it was, deeply.
This year I have a different word, and it's one that I didn't expect.
CONNECT.
I moved to L.S. in 2009, and loved being a part of a ministry here. At the same time, there were unexpected challenges and looking back I was becoming dead to the Word. I felt it, knew it, but wasn't sure what to do.
So I prayed.
In the midst of my praying, I found some cool women's bible studies. Through that, I found a new church, where I am now taking notes upon notes upon notes every Sunday. I'M SO EXCITED!!!! *grin*
I'm learning new perspectives on the Word, and I LOVE IT.
I am also meeting people.
That's what I've missed the most. While I knew people at my other church, I didn't have "friends". I didn't hang out with people.
I was stuck.
Now, I am praying that this will be a year I connect with people. Beyond the surface chat.
I want to connect with people and hear what God is doing in their hearts.
My new pastor is very wise and I've already learned a lot in the short amount of time I've been at the church. I walked away from the New Member class yesterday with some new tidbits that touched my heart. Relationships take time. I know that, and I also know that there are built in times of fellowship within my Sunday Mornings. That excites me. :-)
My favorite thing for this year is a phrase that is part of the church core values and mission statement. It really resonated with me.
"To be living proof of a loving God to a watching World."
Within that, as I live that out, I feel like Connections will happen. *grin*
The year has just started, and I'm excited to see what He has in store for me! *grin*
LIFE.
IS.
AWESOME.

I love your post. I also know what you mean about connecting with people. I like the core value you posted as it is similar to one my church has "Love changes people". This is my goal for the coming year.
